LOW6, a global developer of sports gamification and skill gaming platforms, has acquired UK-based Splash Games. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The company said the transaction is expected to strengthen its business-to-business skill gaming offering.

Splash Games was founded in Brighton and operates a consumer skill gaming platform on which players enter tournaments across a range of titles, including Solitaire Splash, Bubble Splash and Word Splash. LOW6 described the business as having significant experience in competitive, real-money skill gaming. That expertise is expected to support the rollout of Rivalz, LOW6's white-label skill gaming product for operator partners.

Rivalz launched earlier this year and is due to go live soon with several tier 1 operators in the United States. The platform is built to handle contest management, compliance and technical operation, so that partners can concentrate on the products they offer to customers. Its current game lineup includes blackjack, hold'em, 8-ball pool, color sort and darts, among others.

LOW6 regards skill gaming as one of the most exciting new verticals in iGaming. In its explanation, players compete in short skill-based games where the best performers win, and entry fees are the way operators generate revenue. The company argued that the format appeals to younger audiences who enjoy competing against one another.

As part of the deal, Joshua Sprey, co-founder and CEO of Splash Games, will join LOW6 as head of commercial. He will lead commercial growth for the group's skill gaming vertical. Sprey said he believes the market is now ready to grow at pace and that the opportunity in B2B skill gaming is enormous.

Jamie Mitchell, LOW6's co-founder and chief executive, called player-versus-player skill gaming an exciting new vertical with enormous potential for audience engagement. He described the acquisition as a major step in accelerating the company's white-label offering, adding that LOW6 expects to launch with multiple global brands.
