Novig expands IC360 partnership with 'Bad Actor' registry and insider-trading checks before NBA season

Prediction-market operator Novig will use IC360's ProhiTrade technology to block restricted persons from trading and to counter threats against athletes. The deal comes as the NBA season opens and sportsbooks adopt new prop limits.

Prediction-market operator Novig has announced an expanded partnership with IC360, a provider of integrity and compliance technology. The announcement came on Monday, the eve of the 2026-27 NBA regular season.

Under the agreement, Novig gains access to IC360's ProhiTrade "Bad Actor" technology, which is designed to counter threats and harassment aimed at athletes, coaches, referees and sports organisations. Confirmed offenders and fraudsters are added to a centralised, encrypted registry shared across the platforms in the Bad Actor network. Signify, a social media protection provider, is collaborating with IC360 on the initiative.

ProhiTrade also lets Novig check its customer base against a secure list of covered persons, such as athletes, coaches and officials who are restricted from trading on certain markets. The aim is to stop people with inside information, or the ability to influence outcomes, from trading on restricted event contracts. Novig, whose platform is limited to users aged 21 and over, says it has written responsible trading standards into its exchange rulebook, covering monitoring and detection, participant protections and governance.

Scott Sadin, co-CEO of IC360, said Novig's adoption of a full suite of services, including Centralised Self-Exclusion and the Bad Actor programme, helps raise standards across the ecosystem. Novig co-founder and CEO Jacob Fortinsky said sports markets only work if people trust them, which means keeping insiders out, giving users more control over their activity and barring those who threaten or harass athletes.

The move follows steps taken by the NBA and its official sportsbook partners last week, when they introduced prop and parlay restrictions to reduce match manipulation risks. Operators agreed not to offer props on reserve players expected to play fewer than 12 minutes per game. Those rules apply to participating sportsbooks, and no equivalent restrictions apply to prediction markets.

Integrity concerns remain prominent in the US. Several former NBA players are due to stand trial in a broad illegal gambling case over the next six months. Terry Rozier is accused of passing non-public information to a syndicate about plans to leave a game early, allegedly to secure the outcome of props on his performance. He has pleaded not guilty, and jury selection is scheduled for February. A separate trial involving Chauncey Billups, who faces money laundering and wire fraud conspiracy charges in an illegal poker matter, is set to begin a month later.

Novig recently signed a multi-year endorsement deal with actress Sydney Sweeney, and reports put its valuation at roughly $2 billion, up from about $500 million after its February Series B round.
