Powerball Jackpot Rolls to $607M After Maryland Player Wins $1M Match 5 Prize

No ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday's Powerball drawing, so the jackpot has grown to $607 million. A Maryland player won $1 million for matching five white balls, and 24 players took tier-three prizes.

The Powerball jackpot went unclaimed again after the drawing on October 17, when no ticket matched all six numbers. The top prize players competed for was $586 million, with a cash option of $247 million, slightly below the initial estimate of $600 million.

The biggest prize of the night was won in Maryland, where a ticket matched all five white numbers but missed the Powerball, earning $1 million. The winning numbers were 12, 13, 24, 32 and 35, the Powerball was 11 and the Power Play multiplier was 3x.

Two dozen players also matched four white numbers plus the Powerball to win tier-three prizes. Of these, 21 received $50,000 each, while the remaining three won $150,000 each thanks to the Power Play feature.

Because the jackpot was not won, the estimated top prize has risen to $607 million, with a cash value of $255.7 million. The next drawing was scheduled for October 19.

Powerball has recently seen strong activity and a steady flow of seven-figure Match 5 wins. Before the Maryland prize, a player in Minnesota matched all five white numbers with the Power Play feature active, resulting in a $2 million Match 5 + Power Play prize.

The game's reach also extends beyond the United States. Since Allwyn launched Powerball in the UK, allowing British players to compete for the same jackpot as their American counterparts, several Match 5 prizes have been won there. The most recent was a $1 million payout from the October 12 drawing.
