Tampa woman wins $5M top prize on Florida Lottery's 200X The Cash scratch-off
The Florida Lottery says Mercedes Nunes, 34, of Tampa won a $5 million top prize on the 200X The Cash scratch-off and chose a lump sum of $2,779,400 rather than the annuity.
The Florida Lottery announced on October 5 that a player from Hillsborough County has won a $5 million top prize on one of its scratch-off games. The lottery named the winner as Mercedes Nunes, 34, of Tampa.
According to the lottery's official release, Nunes won on the 200X The Cash game. The winning ticket was bought at a Murphy USA store at 1405 W. 15th Street in Panama City.
The lottery said Nunes went to its headquarters in Tallahassee to claim the prize on June 29. Winners are offered a choice between an annuitized payout of the full amount and a single lump sum. She chose the lump sum, which came to $2,779,400.
The 200X The Cash game is a $20 scratch-off with top prizes of $5 million. The overall odds of winning any prize, including break-even outcomes, are 1 in 2.96, while the odds of landing a top prize are 1 in 5,276,993. The game launched with eight top prizes, and four of them remain unclaimed. It also included 20 second-tier prizes of $100,000, of which 11 are still available.
The announcement follows other recent large wins in the state. A few weeks earlier, a Florida player won $1 million in Powerball by matching all five winning numbers. More recently, another player matched all five white balls in the Mega Ball game and, with a 3x multiplier, received a $3 million prize.
