Mega Millions jackpot climbs to $385 million after no top-prize winner in Friday's drawing
No player matched all six numbers in the October 9 Mega Millions drawing, lifting the jackpot to $385 million for the October 13 draw. The best prize on Friday was $50,000.
The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to $385 million for the drawing on Tuesday, October 13, after nobody won the top prize on the previous Friday. The draw is scheduled for 11 pm ET. A winner could take the annuity or a one-time lump sum of $154.8 million.
Friday's drawing, on October 9, offered a $364 million jackpot, with a cash value of $147.3 million. The winning white numbers were 2, 7, 16, 63 and 70, and the gold Mega Ball was 8. No ticket matched all six numbers, and there were also no Match 5 winners in that draw.
Several players did match four white numbers and the Mega Ball, which pays a third-tier prize. Six such tickets were sold, with payouts depending on the multiplier. Three players won $20,000 each with a 2x multiplier, and two won $30,000 each with a 3x multiplier. One player took home $50,000 with a 5x multiplier, the largest prize of the drawing.
If the jackpot is again unclaimed on Tuesday, the top prize for the next drawing on Friday could rise above $400 million, although that is not certain.
Recent weeks have produced some notable second-tier results. On October 6, a player in New Jersey and another in Florida each matched all five white numbers. The New Jersey player won $2 million, while the Florida player received $3 million thanks to a 3x multiplier. Earlier, a player in Wisconsin won $4 million, becoming one of the state's newest millionaires.
