California Player Wins $2.26M Powerball Match 5 Prize as Jackpot Climbs to $538M
A California ticket matched all five white numbers in the October 10 Powerball drawing and will receive $2,259,918. No jackpot winner emerged, and the top prize rose to $538 million for the October 12 draw.
A player in California has won a prize of almost $2.3 million in the Powerball drawing held on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The ticket matched all five white numbers but not the red Powerball, so it missed the jackpot.
The winning numbers were 1, 4, 19, 33 and 51, with the red Powerball 15. The Power Play multiplier was 2x. The advertised top prize for the drawing was $519 million, with a cash option of $212.9 million, and nobody won it.
A Match 5 win normally pays $1 million. California lottery rules, however, tie prize amounts to ticket sales, so the payout varies. According to the California Lottery's announcement, the winner will receive $2,259,918.
The drawing also produced 22 tickets that matched four white numbers plus the Powerball. Eighteen of them won $50,000 each, while four had the Power Play option active and received $100,000 each. One of these Match 4 + Powerball wins was also sold in California, and based on ticket sales its holder will take home $55,740.
With no jackpot winner, the top prize has grown to $538 million for the drawing scheduled for Monday, October 12. A winner could choose between the full amount as an annuity or a one-time lump sum of $220.6 million.
Elsewhere, a player in Louisiana recently won $2 million with a Match 5 + Power Play ticket in the October 5 drawing. That result was part of a run of several consecutive drawings that produced Match 5 winners. The following drawing had no such winner, which allowed the jackpot to reach the $500 million mark for the first time in this run.
