A player in the United Kingdom has won a seven-figure prize in the Powerball drawing held on Monday, 12 October, after matching all five white numbers. The player did not have the Power Play option active, so the payout was $1 million.

The drawing had an advertised jackpot of $541 million, with a lump-sum option of $221.7 million. No ticket matched all six numbers, which were 22, 28, 38, 51 and 69, plus the red Powerball 9. The Power Play multiplier for the draw was 3x, which increased some of the smaller prizes.

Elsewhere in the same drawing, 17 players won tier-three prizes by matching four white numbers plus the red Powerball. Eleven of them received $50,000 each, while six received $150,000 each thanks to Power Play. With the top prize unclaimed, the jackpot has risen to $562 million, with a cash option of $230.4 million. The next drawing is scheduled for Wednesday.

The result is the latest in a series of Match 5 wins in Great Britain since Allwyn launched Powerball in the market earlier this year. Players there can compete for an uncapped jackpot, although no one in the country has yet won the top prize. The first UK Match 5 win came in late August, in the final drawing of that month, and paid $1 million. A second followed with the 21 September drawing, which also produced a $1 million payout.

The same drawing series also produced a notable win in the United States. A player in California matched five white numbers and will receive $2.3 million. California calculates its prizes according to the number of tickets sold, which explains why the amount differs from the fixed $1 million Match 5 prize paid to the UK winners.
