Pragmatic Play releases dark-themed slot Rat Royale with 15,000x max win and 96.52% RTP

Pragmatic Play has added a new title to its slot catalogue called Rat Royale. The game departs from the bright palette the provider is usually associated with, opting instead for a dark and gloomy look that suits the Halloween season.

The slot is played on a 5x5 grid with 259 paylines. It has a theoretical return to player of 96.52% and medium volatility. Bets range from 0.20 to 240, and the maximum win is capped at 15,000x the stake.

The theme centres on a decrepit kingdom ruled by humanoid rats, with a rat king seated on a pile of gold beside the reels. Symbols use desaturated colours, contrasted by glowing gems carried by rat soldiers. A standard Wild substitutes for regular symbols and applies a multiplier of between 1x and 100x to wins, with no more than three Wilds allowed on a single reel.

The rat king also acts as the Scatter and as the Rat King Wild, which appears only on reel 3 in four colour-coded versions. These can carry multipliers of up to 500x on the wins they are part of. The Red Gem version expands to fill the reel and gains 1x for each high-paying symbol on screen once a winning payline has landed. The Purple Gem version adds all normal Wild multipliers on screen to its own, while the Green Gem version adds its multiplier to every regular Wild. The Blue Gem version turns all rat symbols holding a blue gem into Wilds.

Landing three to five Scatters starts one of three free spins modes, each with 10 initial spins. Three Scatters trigger Blood Ritual, in which every Wild is guaranteed a multiplier of at least 2x. Four Scatters activate Blood Pact, which fixes a Rat King Wild in the middle cell, changes its gem colour on every spin and keeps any multipliers added to it for the round. Five Scatters trigger Blood Lust, which works like Blood Pact but expands the central Rat King across the whole reel. Landing three Scatters during the bonus awards five more spins.
