The Ohio Lottery has confirmed that a couple from Kent won the top prize of $15 million on its $50 50th Anniversary Scratch-Off game. The ticket was sold at a Circle K on Chestnut Street in Ravenna, Ohio, and the win was confirmed on October 15, 2026. It is the largest prize the game offers.

The winners had two payout options: $600,000 a year for 25 years, or a single lump-sum payment. They chose the lump sum. According to the report, the figure used for their payout calculation was $7.5 million, from which 26.75% was withheld for taxes, leaving roughly $5,493,750.

The couple reportedly found the result hard to believe at first and needed time to take it in. They began to accept the win only after seeing the $600,000 figure on the ticket. They did not share any immediate plans for the money, and the Ohio Lottery released no further details about them.

Ohio allows lottery winners to stay anonymous, and many choose to do so. A recent example involved a $1 million prize on a similar scratch-off game, claimed by attorney Alan C. Triggs on behalf of The Championship Trust. The trust took a one-time cash payment of $500,000 rather than $40,000 a year for 25 years. After withholdings, the amount fell to $366,250.

The two cases show how withholding and the choice between annuity and lump sum shape what winners actually receive. For lotteries, the 50th anniversary game is also a reminder of the role that high-value instant games play in their product lineups.
