Michigan player wins $1M Powerball Match 5 prize as jackpot climbs to $635M for Wednesday
No ticket won the Powerball jackpot on 19 October, but a Michigan player took a $1 million Match 5 prize. The top prize is now estimated at $635 million for Wednesday's drawing.
Monday's Powerball drawing ended without a jackpot winner, though several smaller prizes were claimed. The biggest came from Michigan, where a player matched all five white numbers but missed the Powerball, earning a $1 million Match 5 payout.
Had that ticket also matched the Powerball, the prize would have been $611 million, or $257.2 million as a one-time lump sum. The numbers drawn on October 19 were 8, 31, 32, 42 and 48, with a red Powerball of 23. The Power Play multiplier was 4x.
The multiplier lifted a few lower-tier prizes. Two players who matched four white numbers plus the Powerball and had Power Play active won $200,000 each. Eight other players with the same match but without Power Play won $50,000 each.
With the jackpot unclaimed, the top prize rises for Wednesday's drawing. It is currently estimated at $635 million, with a cash value of $267.5 million.
The Michigan win is the latest in a run of Match 5 prizes in recent weeks. On Saturday, a Maryland player won $1 million by matching all five white numbers. Before that, a Minnesota player matched all five white numbers with Power Play active, which produced a $2 million Match 5 + Power Play prize.
A Briton also won $1 million earlier, becoming the latest UK-based Match 5 winner. Powerball launched in the UK earlier this year as part of Allwyn's modernization of The National Lottery, giving local players access to an uncapped jackpot.
