Clever Advertising to acquire Pickswise betting picks brand from Spotlight Sports Group
iGaming marketing firm Clever Advertising has agreed to buy the Pickswise brand from Spotlight Sports Group for an undisclosed sum, aiming to strengthen its position in the US market.
Clever Advertising, a company specialising in iGaming marketing, has signed a deal with Spotlight Sports Group to take over the Pickswise sports betting brand. The company says the purchase will help it serve its customers in the United States more effectively.
The financial terms were not disclosed. Pickswise will be folded into Clever Advertising's business but will continue to operate under its existing name, with its website, apps and social media channels staying in place. Users were told that the way the platform works will not change.
Pickswise was launched in 2019 and offers daily picks, odds and betting recommendations covering the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and UFC, along with college football and basketball.
The buyer is already familiar with the brand. Clever Advertising has worked with Pickswise since 2025, contributing to its content strategy, the relaunch of its app, an overhaul of its website and the expansion of its social media presence. The company already has a presence in the US, and the acquisition is expected to deepen it.
Rui Meireles, chief publishing officer at Clever Advertising, described Pickswise as the team's most important US asset. He said its readers are fans who want to understand the reasoning behind a pick before they bet, and that this is the audience licensed operators wish to reach. He added that the company intends to keep investing in the brand and growing its reach.
Mark Renshaw, chief executive of Spotlight Sports Group, said his company launched Pickswise in 2019 and built it into one of the leading free picks brands in the US. He noted that the Clever Advertising team had taken it further over the past year and called the buyer the right owner for its next chapter.
