FanDuel is set to appoint Christian Genetski as its permanent chief executive, according to reports, ending an interim stint of almost six months. He is expected to formally take the role on January 1, 2027.

The decision was reportedly communicated to staff at parent company Flutter Entertainment in an internal email from group chief executive Dan Taylor, as reported by Front Office Sports. Taylor praised Genetski's work and his long involvement in FanDuel's development, and said confirming the appointment would give the business stable leadership as it pursues its growth plans. Neither Flutter nor FanDuel has publicly confirmed the news so far, and an announcement may come alongside Flutter's third-quarter results on November 4.

Genetski became interim CEO in May 2026, when Amy Howe, who had led FanDuel since 2021, stepped down. Flutter announced her departure on May 6, 2026, together with his appointment as her successor. Before that he served as president, a post he assumed in 2022. He joined FanDuel in 2015 and has also been its chief commercial officer and chief legal officer. That background gives him close knowledge of the company's commercial operations, regulatory environment, partnerships and expansion strategy, and he played a significant part in advancing the legalization of sports betting in the United States.

The move comes during a turbulent period for Flutter. Its shares have fallen nearly 60% so far in 2026, although they have recovered more than 16% over the past month. Investors have worried about competition from prediction markets such as Kalshi and Polymarket, and the company's US sportsbook performance has also been under pressure. FanDuel has launched its own prediction market product, but it faces regulatory uncertainty: last week it suspended trading on sports, political and novelty events for users in Utah after authorities filed criminal charges against Kalshi.

FanDuel's VIP program has also drawn scrutiny. Senator Richard Blumenthal and other lawmakers have questioned practices used to attract high-value bettors, and the criticism intensified after a video emerged of baseball player Bryce Harper recording a Thanksgiving greeting for a FanDuel VIP customer.

The leadership change also follows a shift at group level, as Taylor took over as Flutter CEO on October 1, replacing Peter Jackson.
