The Massachusetts State Lottery has announced that Susana Lausana of Lynn won the top prize in its $2,000,000 50X Cashword instant game, according to a report from GamblingNews. The lottery issued its usual publicity material, including a photograph of the winner with an oversized check.

Lausana bought the ticket at D&M Variety, a convenience store at 99 Commercial St in Lynn. By the account given, she realized right away that the ticket carried the grand prize. She opted for a lump-sum payment rather than annuity installments, which comes to $1.3 million before taxes are deducted.

The report notes that most big lottery winners take the lump sum. The reasoning is that a single up-front payment can be invested immediately and may produce greater returns than a series of annual payments would.

Lausana did not say much about her plans. She indicated that part of the money would go toward her home and that she has already booked a holiday trip to Florida. With her win, only one grand prize is left unclaimed in the $2,000,000 50X Cashword game.

The win follows another recent Massachusetts lottery payout. Earlier, a man won $416,405 on a $2 wager on an eInstant game called Timber Wolf. He said he intended to buy gifts for his family, help his daughter pay for her wedding and save some of the money.
