Powerball $847M jackpot won in New Jersey, ending 35 drawings without a top-prize winner
A player in New Jersey matched all six numbers in the 4 November Powerball drawing to win an $847M jackpot, the game's tenth-largest. The top prize has reset to $20M for Saturday's draw.
A single ticket sold in New Jersey took the Powerball jackpot in the drawing held on 4 November. The prize is $847 million as an annuity, or $363.1 million if the winner chooses the one-time lump sum. The ticket-holder has not yet come forward to claim the money.
The winning numbers were 15, 34, 41, 53 and 56, with the Powerball number 21. The Power Play multiplier for the drawing was 2x. The result is the seventh Powerball jackpot of 2026 and the tenth-largest top prize in the history of the game.
The win also ended a run of 35 consecutive drawings in which nobody claimed the jackpot. Powerball officials said ticket sales had risen over the previous week as the prize grew. Stephen Durrell, product group chair at Powerball, said players take notice when a jackpot reaches this level and that the excitement had been reflected in sales. He added that every ticket sold increases the jackpot while also generating funding for public programs and services in local communities.
The latest prize follows a year with two record-setting top prizes. The game's largest jackpot remains the $2.04 billion won by a player in California in 2022. The most recent previous jackpot was won in Illinois earlier this summer and stood at $1.04 billion.
The New Jersey player was not the only winner in the drawing. No ticket matched all five white numbers without the Powerball, so there were no second-tier winners. However, 25 players who matched four white numbers plus the Powerball won $50,000 each, while four others won $100,000 each thanks to the Power Play option.
With the jackpot claimed, the top prize has reset to $20 million for the Saturday drawing. Powerball is expected to publish further details about the winning ticket as they become available.
